Two weeks earlier than contractually agreed, the production, warehouse and logistics facility covering 5,700 m2 was handed over to M&C, as the first section of its new building. Following a final inspection and examination of all building conditions and functionalities, Olaf Sommer (Managing Shareholder), Hans-Jörg Rumm (Chief Technology Officer) and Ralf Krauskopf (Senior Technical Advisor) informally received the keys to the new production facility from construction site manager Dirk Nellen (on behalf of General Building Contractor Bolckmann, Schwalmtal).
During the next few months, the production equipment will be installed, tested and commissioned step by step according to a well-defined schedule. Hence, the results of the preceding two-year planning and construction phase will be successfully and gradually implemented. Since M&C Ratingen will receive a completely new manufacturing facility and continue to operate at the existing location at the same time, the interruption in production due to its relocation will be very short and hardly noticed by our customer companies. This was an important planning parameter for M&C from the very beginning.
According to the current situation, the two remaining sections of construction, i.e. the administrative and the social areas, will be handed over in April and May as planned, and full business operation is scheduled for the beginning of September 2021. Then, the complete interior renovation of the existing Ratingen location will follow as the second major stage.
All parties involved regret that upon completion of this first construction stage, a traditional celebration was not possible due to the Covid pandemic. However, the handover of the new building complex will be celebrated in any case with an official inauguration event as soon as it will be possible without any health risks.
